A thinking partnership for leaders navigating what they can't quite see.

This is not consulting. There are no deliverables, no workshops, no slide decks. It is a retainer-based relationship built around careful conversation and independent judgment, with someone who has spent twenty years studying how organizations actually work.

What advisory looks like

Most of the leaders I work with are not failing. They are stuck. Something in their organization is working against them and they have not been able to name it clearly enough to address it.

Advisory begins with paying careful attention. To how decisions are actually being made. To what the culture rewards in practice versus in principle. To where the real tensions are accumulating and what they are trying to signal.

Over time, that attention becomes a shared language. And that language makes it possible to act with more clarity and less friction.

What it is not

I do not run workshops. I do not facilitate team offsites (though I am occasionally available for leadership retreats when the context warrants it). I do not produce reports or implementation plans.

What I offer is a sustained thinking partnership. A confidential relationship with someone who will tell you what they actually see, bring scholarly depth to practical problems, and stay with you through the complexity rather than hand you a framework and leave.

Who this is for

Executives and senior leaders who are navigating a moment of real complexity. A transformation that has stalled. A culture that is not shifting despite significant investment. A leadership team that cannot seem to align. An organization that keeps having the same conversations.

The work tends to resonate with people who already sense that the problem is not primarily technical, who are wary of solutions that were designed for a simpler environment, and who want a thought partner with both research depth and practical judgment.

“The work I take on is selective. It begins with a mutual understanding that the challenges at hand are not primarily technical and that lasting progress requires attention to people, culture, and how decisions are actually made.”David L. Harkins

What to expect

  • Retainer-based engagement — monthly, ongoing
  • Regular conversations, not deliverables
  • Strict confidentiality
  • Honest, independent perspective
  • Grounded in research and two decades of practice
  • A small number of engagements at any time

Leadership retreat facilitation

On occasion, I facilitate leadership retreats and executive meetings when the context warrants it. These are not team-building exercises. They are structured conversations designed to surface the real tensions in a leadership group, create shared language around a complex challenge, and generate clarity about what needs to happen and why.

These engagements are selective and work best when the group already senses that something important is going unsaid, when a significant decision is on the horizon, or when a leadership team needs to think together rather than present to each other.

Conversations are how this work begins.

If something here resonates with your situation, the right next step is a conversation. There is no pitch, no proposal, no obligation. Just a chance to see if there is a fit.
